The Hurt Locker received some negative feedback from the public because of the awards it won. This is ironic since the press is usually the one complaining. But this is a case of expectations and relativity more than anything else.
Prior to The Hurt Locker winning any awards, it was loved by all. After the awards, people began to question the movie’s quality. The awards have nothing to do with the quality of the movie. Either you enjoyed it or you didn’t. And most people enjoyed it.
If you’re not familiar with the movie, it’s about a soldier who defuses bombs in Iraq. But this isn’t just any soldier. He’s the epitome of the modern day cowboy. He has absolutely no fear and he is also a bit on the brazen side. For this reason, many people don’t like him. But he doesn’t care.
When he finally gets to go home, he realizes he’s completely out of place and needs to get back to where the action is at. So, there he goes again, gambling with his life while defusing bombs in hostile territory.
The relationship he has with the other soldiers is strained at times. There are many reasons for this, one of which has to do with his untimely arrival following his predecessor’s death.
One scene in this movie is very intense and involves two allies fighting with a knife. It’s a realistic scene and one that seems even scarier than when he is dealing with insurgents. This movie is recommended to all.
